Phone Repair Business in the future
What is the future of phone repair? As the owner of a cell phone repair shop in Hollywood FL., Fixit phone repair we ask this question daily. We fix any and all cell phones but the iPhone is the most popular. Our business modal is fixing iPhones, affordably, quickly and consistently. Up until this year we and every other third party repair shop had it made in the shade. The introduction of the iPhone X has changed the face of phone repair.
For the most part, fixing the screen on a cell phone is rather easy and inexpensive. The cost of a replacement screen is inexpensive for most of the phones on the market. The most expensive screen to fix is the Samsung Galaxy screens because it’s an OLED screen. OLED stands for organic light-emitting diode which is far clearer than an LCD, liquid crystal display. The newest iPhone’s are OLED and that is causing an issue. The phone repair market has just become much more difficult.
The main reason the iPhone is inexpensive to fix was because the LCD is easily copied. This created a huge market of cheap, reliable replacement screens that cost less than 3% of the cost of the phone. Now, the newer iPhone X screens are going to cost close to 10% of the cost. This will make the newer iPhone much more expensive for repair.
Unless the market can create a reliable replacement screen for the newer iPhones customers can expect to pay a lot more. The newest iPhones are very expensive and the biggest reason is the OLED cost. If you want the same quality as the original screen than it will cost you. The cost to do newest iPhone repair will become much more expensive. If you want to upgrade to the iPhone X, the phone repair will cost more than before.
